pith: my favorite sketchbook
I looooove sketchbooks. I have a problem like any other artist. I collected them en masse and hoard the good ones. There’s a good sketchbook, bad sketchbook, pencil only sketchbook, watercolor sketchbook etc etc. When it comes to sketchbooks I prefer to have a few in rotation. I find that I prefer sketchbooks that have thick-ish paper for all wet media. It’s funny because rarely do I watercolor outside of my home so why the requirement? (I don’t know) But!…
I discovered Pith a while ago and have been in love since. They’re a British brand that is committed to producing the highest quality creative stationery with minimal environmental impact. The brand makes sketchbooks, notebooks, pads and planners.

Kabosu ($16.00 | 5.9x4.13) and Tangelo ($19.20 | 6.10x8.74) Pricing is from Jackson's Art as of 10/06/2024.
The sketchbooks come in 5 different sizes; Oroblanco (12x8.74), Lumia (9.8x6.88976), Cara Cara (7.87x5.5), Kabosu (5.9x4.13) and Tangelo (6.10x8.74) which is a horizontal sketchbook! I’ve tried the Oroblanco, Kabosu and Tangelo. I want to try the planner but they aren’t shipping to the U.S. just yet. But the sketchbooks can be purchased at Jackson's Art!
I would recommend pith for any artist that loves wet media. It takes acrylic, gouache and watercolor very well and doesn’t seep through the page. I’ve used ink and nib and the paper is white on the other side! It blew me away! The lay-flat binding is amazing for large double spread pieces. If you’re using pastels or colored pencils you’ll love these too because the paper grain is quite smooth.
Comment below if you’ve tried Pith or want to! Which size would you get and what color? I’m almost time for me to place my order for some new ones.
