A CONSTANT STRUGGLEβ¦
Inspired by Angela Davis, this was my first piece I felt liberated through art. Named after one of her books but holding the weight a Black woman feels about her hair; FREEDOM. Though the original print showcases a face, I carved away the face for the βfor the publicβ edition. This print was purchased and archived by the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
Freedom isnβt a specific face for us. Freedom is our crown we hold high and wear even higher.
